About the ARRI ORBITER LED – Blue/Silver

Please note: Basic configuration without  Yoke, Optic, Control Panel, Control Panel Cable and Mains Cable.

What’s new? Everything.

Orbiter is an ultra-bright, tunable, and directional LED fixture from ARRI. All systems in Orbiter are completely new and designed with versatility in mind.

Changeable Optics

Changeable optics is the core innovation in Orbiter. With a wide variety of optics to choose from, Orbiter transforms into the perfect light for your application without sacrificing beam, output, or colour quality. The Quick Lighting Mount (QLM) in Orbiter allows for optics with vastly different properties to be connected to the fixture.

Open Face

The open face optics produce a high-output, directional beam of light in several different beam angles including 15º, 30º, and 60º. Perfect for throwing light long distances or providing a broad swath of light.

Say hello to ARRI Spectra

Six-Colour Light Engine – Including a red, green, blue, amber, cyan, and lime LED, the ARRI Spectra six-colour light engine translates into a wider colour gamut, more accurate colours, and most importantly, higher colour rendition across the entire CCT range.

Wide Gamut – Hues are precisely reproduced and the increased gamut allows for 15% more colour possibilities when compared to previous ARRI light engines.

Ultra-High Colour Rendering – Orbiter has a larger CCT range of 2,000 to 20,000 K with ultra-high colour rendition across all colour temperatures. Skin tones look amazing and natural.

Compact Light Engine – Cutting-edge LEDs that have never been used before in a luminaire and their arrangement creates a homogeneous colour beam field with amazing brightness.

Color Sensor Mode – The new Color Sensor Mode in Orbiter will read the ambient colour surrounding the fixture and reproduce the colour with great accuracy.

Sheer Output

Orbiter is an extremely bright and powerful, directional LED fixture with an output similar to that of the corresponding HMI systems. Orbiter’s high, yet tunable, ARRI Spectra light engine output can create hard shadows with defined edges. This revolutionary light engine is 76 times smaller than the L10’s light engine but produces the same power draw and greater output. A dense arrangement of over 200 LEDs gives Orbiter a point source-like aperture while maintaining full-colour tunability with a new six-colour LED mixture. These cutting-edge LEDs have never been used before in a luminaire and the arrangement creates a homogeneous colour-beam field with amazing brightness.

Technology Unleashed

A new era of digital lighting is truly upon us. Orbiter is the most technologically advanced luminaire ever to be created for image capture while maintaining superior colour fidelity. With state‑of‑the‑art electronics, Orbiter is able to perform more tasks than previous luminaires.

Electronics – Orbiter’s processor is four times faster than the SkyPanel with 125 times more memory, setting the stage for extensive software features and updates in the future.

Weatherproof Electronics – Orbiter’s processor is four times faster than the SkyPanel with 125 times more memory, setting the stage for extensive software features and updates in the future.

Dimming – Using a combination of three dimming techniques, Orbiter’s cutting-edge electronics provide smooth dimming down to zero without colour changes or jumps.

Power – Orbiter includes a lightweight internal power supply and a 3-pin XLR battery input for 48 V ⎓ batteries.

Weatherproof – Orbiter’s housing is weatherproof. To ensure no defects, Orbiter’s ports (such as power, or XLR (for DMX)) require additional protection. The rain cover is mandatory when the Orbiter is tilted at a horizontal angle or facing downward, and recommended from 0° to 75° upwards.

Powerful Software

Orbiter is able to take advantage of over five years of software development for the SkyPanel. Orbiter’s new software called LiOS (Lighting Operating System) includes all the innovative and groundbreaking features from SkyPanel plus others, making Orbiter one of the most fully‑featured luminaires on the market.

8 Colour Modes – LiOS’ eight-colour modes are available including CCT, HSI, individual colour, x/y coordinates, gel, source matching, lighting effects, and the new colour sensor mode which measures ambient light and recreates it through Orbiter’s output.

Favorites – Over 240 favorite colours or lighting effects can be stored in Orbiter. These favorites can be easily selected via an easy to use interface or via DMX.

Operational Modes – Orbiter offers three operational modes to optimise the fixture’s performance for different applications. High colour rendering mode provides the best colour quality possible, high output mode generates the best brightness with slightly lower colour rendition, while low noise mode creates a balance for quiet operation with decent output.

Additional Features – Other new features in LiOS include simplified DMX modes, optics recognition, multi-language support, custom boot screen, and many more still to come.

Removable Control Panel

Easy to use, powerful control

Connectivity

Ready for today, prepared for tomorrow

SD Card – An SD Card slot enables future expansion of the software as well as a second way of updating the firmware.

USB-C – A USB-C port is available for computer communication and servicing.

USB-A – Two USB-A ports are used for LiOS updates via USB stick and connection of third-party peripherals such as Wi-Fi USB dongles and much more.

5-Pin XLR – Two 5-Pin XLR DMX ports allow for conventional DMX & RDM communication in and through.

EtherCON – Ethernet daisy chaining is now possible with two EtherCON ports which support Art-Net 4, sACN, and TCP/IP.

CameraSync – A sync port provides the opportunity to sync Orbiter with a wide variety of motion picture cameras to have frame accurate flashing of the light output.

Wireless – LumenRadio’s CRMX solution is included which allows for wireless DMX communication.

Full Suite of Sensors

Colour Sensor – Orbiter includes an integrated colour sensor for measuring and matching the ambient light.

3-Axis Accelerometer – A 3-axis accelerometer allows for sensing the pan, tilt, and roll of the fixture. This data will provide future meta data for special effects work or optimising fixture performance.

Magnetometer – A magnetometer gives Orbiter’s heading based on the direction the fixture is pointing in the real world.

Ambient Light Sensor – An ambient light sensor located on the control panel will automatically dim the brightness of the control panel display based on surrounding light intensity.

Heat Sensors – Heat sensors located throughout the interior of the Orbiter will keep the LEDs and electronics at exactly the right temperature.

Large Range of Applications

Orbiter’s wide range of optics and features allows the fixture to be used in a great variety of applications without compromising quality. Markets such as film and television production, broadcast, theater and live entertainment, and even still photography are just some examples of environments where Orbiter excels.
